July 28, 2008
I will be out of the office this week- from July 28th-August 4th. My wonderful husband is whisking me away for some much needed R&R- far away from our computers and phones! We are off to Riviera Maya, Mexico and could not be more excited. Will miss you all lots! Stay tuned to the blog next week, I am super excited to share some incredible wedding posts I have been putting together for you. :)

Amber & Mike's wedding
July 11, 2008
I was so excited when my dear friends, the fabulous Cat and Adi at Next Exit Photography sent me the most gorgeous photos of Amber and Mike's wedding at the Firestone Crossroads estate. (A most favorite venue of mine!) Amber and Mike were such an unbelievable joy to work with- I still cannot believe how quickly the year of planning flew by! One of the sweetest couples I have ever had the joy of getting to know, I have no doubt we will be in touch for many years to come. For Amber and Mike's wedding we wanted to create an incredibly romantic feeling- something traditionally beautiful in a rustic outdoor setting.
Amber and Mike wrote their touching ceremony together the wonderful Rich Tobin.
I absolutely love this shot of Amber. She is so overcome with joy and emotion. These are my favorite kinds of photos.
The Firestone's couch in the vineyard? Why not?! Haha- Adi, you are a rock star!
Amber and Mike sharing a special moment on the dance floor.
Some fun details! Amber and Mike's guests happily shaded themselves with parasols, large urns overflowing with soft pink garden roses and eucalyptus flanked either side of the aisle at the ceremony.
More details~ distressed garden boxes held rough woodsy branches while clusters of pale pink garden roses and lisianthus softened the look. We had an artist create a sketch of the oak tree under which Amber and Mike would be married and carried the motif throughout the wedding.
Guests filled their tiny take-away boxes with fresh baked treats at the end of the night. Brownies, chocolate chip cookies, fruit tarts, etc.
Danielle & Matt's wedding
July 2, 2008
There was such an overwhelming sense of love and joy in the air and genuine celebration for being all together for Danielle and Matt.
Seriously- how gorgeous is Danielle?!
Such a cute shot in the barrel room. It was a cool escape from the hot weather outside!
Ahh.... the "wedding post!" This was Matt's awesome creation unveiled to all the day before the wedding. And in true hilarious fashion, the wedding post was of course accompanied with a story of the Santa Ynez Indians who had an "ancient tradition" of cutting down a tree and painting it white and placing "tribal corks" with "tribal table numbers stuck in them." Guests signed the post for Matt and Danielle. Brilliant.
With record high temperatures, we ran out to the local store to pick up popsicles for the guests to enjoy upon arrival.
I love this shot of Matt seeing Danielle for the first time that day.
The ceremony was so full of emotion- both heartfelt and hilarious. I laughed and cried the whole time.
Quite possibly the best wedding toast I have ever witnessed. (Given by Matt's fellow UCB'ers.)
Now for the story of the greatest surprise "first dance" EVER. Inspired by a spoof which Matt wrote and directed based off of the dance movie genre, they decided to surprise their guests with something completely awesome. The "Bad Newz Bears," a dance crew out of Los Angeles, were secretly hired to come to the wedding. The guys from the crew dressed as waiters and were on the floor "serving" guests for about an hour before the dance began..
You have just experienced one of the most incredible events of your life. The person who you love most in the world has popped the question and you have answered 'yes!' The whirlwind of the wedding planning world has now opened- questions and excitement from friends and family, your childhood wedding dreams re-visited, wedding magazines taunting you from the shelves of the check out lanes. You are finding yourself with a new language. A vocabulary full of words such as Fiancé, Chivari chairs, fondant--words you had no idea that you knew and now they seem to run off your tongue effortlessly.
I know how fast everything seems and how overwhelming it all can feel at first, so I created this blog to help answer questions, give advice and inspire new ideas.
